Scissor & Roc is a Canberra based hair salon who’s focus is to make their clients feel relaxed and comfortable during their visits. The branding was inspired by Palm Springs and the feeling of being on vacation in a relaxing place. We drew inspiration for the fonts from signage found in Palm Springs, the colour palette, shapes and illustrations from architecture and native plants.

Scissor & Roc’s target market is mainly female, however they do offer grooming services for males as well so we included some less feminine and more neutral tones within the brand palette to appeal to these members when promoting those services. This is why we chose to balance the pink tones with the muted green and beige. This also tied in with the relaxed feeling they wanted to evoke.

We used brand elements inspired by Palm Springs foliage and implemented it throughout their brand collateral items at a low opacity to have a more subtle effect to make it look more sophisticated.
